PIEDMONT

DOGLIANI

This summer we decided to travel to a place that was both easy in terms of distance and activities. We have two small boys, who are not used to car rides as we still prefer bicycles as our mode of transportation. So we went to Piedmont in northern Italy, an easy five hour drive from home. It’s a beautiful region with a moderate amount of tourism, offering beautiful hilly landscapes and outstanding culinary experiences. The area also provides great hikes and plenty of serpentine country roads for cycling enthusiasts.
Booking very late, we were lucky enough to chance upon a small cultural association, called QUOTA reviving old houses in the area around Dogliani. We stayed in a lovely house in the hills above the city. Formerly a goat stable, it is only accessible via a dirt path and has been lovingly restored and carefully adapted as a holiday home.
I can thoroughly recommend the accommodation as well as the region. While there, don’t forget to visit beautiful places like La Morra and Alba and the amazing Piedmont wineries.
